Walking on Sunshine – Claire Lynch, Spine Sketchbook, 6 Yesterday I went for my first walk. It was one of the most beautiful of days. Though the air was cool and crisp, sunlight brightly streamed through puffed clouds, breathing warmth into my body. The tree blossoms spread their petals, open to capture the sun’s rays, revealing their endless vibrant waves of color. My senses were awake!

At the age of 31, Claire underwent two unexpected and rapid spinal surgeries for a recurring herniated disk within the span of 3 days. This series was inspired by the spontaneously ridiculous, traumatizing, and heartwarming moments of her surgical recovery.
