Congratulations to the winners of our 2013 Short Fiction Contest.
Neil Mathison won first place for “The Cannery.” Neil will receive $150 and publication in our short fiction anthology.
Jane St. Clair won second place for “When You’re Flying High, Better Not Look Down.” Jane will receive $50 and publication.
Thirteen other stories from the 2013 contest have also been selected for the anthology, which will be published in October, 2014.
About the winners:
Neil Mathison is an essayist and short story writer who has been a naval officer, a nuclear engineer, an expatriate businessman living in Hong Kong, a corporate vice-president, and a stay-at-home-dad. His work has appeared in The Ontario Review, Georgia Review, Southern Humanities Review, North American Review, North Dakota Quarterly, Agni, and elsewhere. He lives and writes in Seattle. Jane St. Clair’s stories have appeared in literary magazines like Thema, descant, Red Rock Review and others, as well as several literary anthologies. A former staff member of “Sesame Street,” Jane is also the author of 21 children’s books published in Korea and a novel, Walk Me to Midnight, published by Oak Tara Press.
